Maternia was founded out of determination to a women’s health problem that has been completely invisible over time: the lack of access to quality healthcare during one of the riskiest period of women’s lives; their pregnancy.

While maternal and child mortality is an unfortunate global health tragedy, it mostly occurs in low and middle-income countries due to reasons such as poverty,   lack of access to quality prenatal care & pregnancy monitoring and shortage of qualified personnel.

Current solutions fail to reach those who need them most; they are too expensive, inaccessible, and high-tech, leaving thousands of pregnant women underserved.

Each day, 800 mothers die from pregnancy complications that could be prevented

This also impacts child health outcomes: 1.9 Million stillbirths occur every year

1 baby dies every 17 seconds before they even have a chance to live

84% of these stillbirths occur in low and middle-income countries.

Maternia’s Commitment to SDG’s

While progress in obstetric practices, together with stronger technological capabilities, has enabled greater control over fetus monitoring, stillbirths and maternal mortality continue to occur in low and middle-income countries.

Maternia advocates for maternal equality and strives to provide a dignified and healthy pregnancy for all women worldwide.
